My alarm goes off far too soon in my opinion, and I fling an arm over to my bedside table to find my phone, silencing the shrill noise it’s emitting.

Sleep eluded me for most of the night with hideous heartburn keeping me awake and uncomfortable. I need to do something about my diet. Between work and Seb, I’m living off coffee, cereal, and sandwiches or takeout. Not only is it starting to mess with my stomach, but it’s zapping the little energy I have.

It’s what you get for swapping Pilates for sex, my subconscious gloats the I-told-you-so, and all I can do is stick my tongue out at her.

Sex with Seb is better than Pilates. I’m pretty certain it’s a better workout too. The things he does to me…the way he fucks…

Good. Lord.

I’m getting all hot and bothered just thinking about it, and considering that I have a tight schedule to stick to this morning so I’m not late to the barbeque at Amelia’s, I need to not be distracted by Seb’s impressive stamina and perfect dick.

Sliding to the edge of my bed, I swing my legs round to stand and stretch my arms over my head. The movement makes my stomach roll, and I immediately stop and take a breath. Clearly lack of sleep has left me slightly worse for wear, but I can power through. I’ve had worse hangovers.

You got this, I remind myself even though I’m still anxious about the long weekend ahead. No matter how much I try to deny it, things with Seb are progressing. The whole no-strings-attached fun definitely has a lot of strings, and I’m waiting to trip up on one…or two. He makes it so easy to forget we’re nothing but casual lovers with the way he fusses over me and listens.

The entire venue thing and the way he helped me deal with it was pretty amazing. Even if I had to explain that the reason I didn’t want to use Parker to resolve the problem was because he’s Seb’s friend, and I don’t want things to get messy. I don’t want him to think that I’m taking advantage of him. More so, I don’t want to get used to him fixing my problems. At the end of the day, this is temporary, and when things end—which they will, I remind myself one more time—I’m going to have to fend for myself again.

There’s no point in getting used to something that won’t be there to support me later on. Give the man his dues, not only did he take the reality check with grace, but he was also understanding and respectful of my feelings even though his clearly took a hit.

Grabbing a cute jumpsuit from my closet, I make quick work of getting washed and dressed. Seems as though my not-so-amazing diet is also not doing great things to my figure as I struggle to get the zip over my bloated belly.

“Ugh.” I grimace when I look in the mirror and notice the way the fabric is straining over my belly and boobs.
